College Bus Instructions

1. Bus Rules for Students

  1. Students are permitted to avail bus service only after getting their bus card. Once the card has been issued, all students are required to carry their bus card with them at all times when travelling in the college bus.
  2. Bus Passes must be renewed each academic year.
  3. If a bus card is lost, the student has to report the same to the office immediately and get a new bus card issued. Students will have to pay Rs.200/- for the new bus card.
  1. Buses will run according to schedule provided at the beginning of each academic year.
  2. All students should reach the stop marked in their bus cards atleast 10 minutes before the scheduled time for that particular stop. Buses will not be held for students who arrive late.
  3. As common bus service for all colleges part of Nirmala Institutions, in unavaidoble and exceptional days including university exam days for certain college etc – there might be delays, change in bus timings, or other re-arrangements made. While every effort will be put to avoid this, students are required to co-operate with such rare adjustments.
  4. In case of cancellation of a bus in one route due to issues with the vehicle or otherwise, then students can use another bus as per the instructions of college authorities.
  1. The following seating arrangement should be strictly followed by all the bus users:
    1. Boys                     –              Rear Seats
    2. Staff                     –              Middle Seats
    3. Girls                     –              Front Seats
  2. Students are permitted to travel only in the allotted bus number even if there are other buses plying in the same route. Violators of this rule will be treated as unauthorised passengers of that particular bus.
  3. Loud noise and use of speakers (including mobile phone speakers) are not permitted inside the bus. Students are advised to use earphones when required.
  4. Students are not permitted to unboard the bus in any other location other than their registered stop as marked in their bus card. If a student requires to do so they have to inform their bus incharge teacher. If the assigned bus in charge teacher is on leave, then the student should inform another staff in the bus.
  5. In case of any damage to any college bus by any student, the cost of repair will be recovered from that particular student. If the student that caused the damage cannot be identified, then the same will be deducted from the list of students that the college authorities identify as likely to have caused the damage after proper investigation.
  6. Students shall not engage in arguments with driver, fellow students or staff members. Such an act would be perceived as a serious disciplinary violation and will attract disciplinary action. Any complaints regarding college bus services should be reported to the college bus representative in their respective college office. If the issue has not been resolved after 2 working days, students may escalate the same to the central office college bus in charge via email at [email protected] or via call on +91-9567016959.
  7. Objects of any kind must not be discarded inside or thrown out of the bus. Such actions will also be perceived as serious disciplinary violations and might attract disciplinary action.
  8. Students are expected to behave decently with the fellow students inside the bus. Students should not engage in any activity that causes discomfort to any fellow passenger. Boys and girls travelling together should maintain their dignity without hurting each other’s self-respect.
  9. College buses are to be treated as part of college premises and any inappropriate behaviour will attract disciplinary action.
  10. Use of abusive language, smoking, vaping, or consuming alcohol or drugs of any kind is strictly prohibited.
  11. Students must remain seated whenever there are seats available.
  12. Students should not distract the driver or put their hands or heads outside the bus when the bus is in motion.
  13. In the case of a breakdown, students on board the bus must remain within the bus until alternative transport arrangements have been made.
  14. Students should not enter the college bus any sooner than 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time of a bus from the campus.
  15. If any student is found to have availed the college bus service without a bus card or without having cleared their dues for any distance or duration, he/she will be liable to pay as fine an amount equal to half the full semester payment for that bus route.
  16. Students who are not regular passengers shall obtain bus coupons in advance by paying the required fees from the college office. Cash as bus fare will not be accepted instead of coupons. Only those who hand over the coupons at the boarding time to the officials of the college deputed for the same will be permitted to travel in college buses.
  1. Bus fare should be paid at the beginning of every semester and should be renewed when due. Those who fail to do so will not be allowed to use the bus service.
  2. The college bus service is for a minimum period of one academic year. Students that opt for this service will have to pay full dues for this duration as shared at the time of opting for the service. The service cannot be cancelled in between and there will not be any refund of fee under any circumstance.

  3. If you are the last staff to leave the bus, you are required to take count of the number of students left in the bus. If buses are to travel for long distances without a staff present in the bus, please notify the college office immediately.
  4. Staff are required to keep note of any student behaviour that might result in damage to the college bus and report the names of any student suspected to have cause a damage.
  5. Staff should report any act of arguments with driver, fellow students or other staff members in the bus.
  6. College buses are to be treated as part of college premises and therefore all bus passengers are expected to behave decently with other fellow passengers inside the bus. 3. Bus In-Charge Teachers

  1. When selecting a suitable bus in charge for a bus the below factors are considered. Once a staff is selected for the same he/she is given 100% concession on bus fee
    • Teachers availing the bus service from a boarding point furthest away from the college campus. This is to ensure that the bus incharge is in the bus for maximum duration during the journey of the bus.
    • Teachers able and willing to dispose of all the responsibilities of a bus in charge
  1. The main responsibility of the bus incharge is to be the primary contact person for all queries related the that bus for all students and parents. This is especially important in the beginning of every academic year when new students start availing the bus services. Also, whenever there is a change in the bus arrangements (timings, route etc) the bus incharge should ensure that all teachers and students are aware of the same.
  2. Bus in-charges are responsible for the overall discipline inside the bus during every journey and should take a proactive approach in maintaining the same.
  3. In case of any disciplinary issue / violation of general code of conduct / standing passengers/delay in bus time or any other unusual incident the bus in-charge has to report the issue to the college office and write the same in bus arrival check list.
  4. Bus in-charge should wait till the end of checking in the morning when the bus arrives and sign the bus arrival check list and use the same to report any incidents in the journey of the bus away from the campus the previous evening or the morning journey towards the campus.
  5. The bus incharge is also responsible to ensure the proper maintenance of a first aid kit in the bus at all times.
  6. If a student requests to get off at another stop than the scheduled stop then the bus incharge should inform the concerned parent and the concerned college bus office.
  7. If the bus incharge is on leave any particular day then he/she should identify a temporary bus incharge for such days and let them know of all the responsibilities detailed here.
  8. The bus incharge teacher is also expected to conduct random checks to verify if all passengers in the bus are carrying valid bus cards.

3. Bus In-Charge Teachers

  1. Whenever a new bus driver joins, he is expected to report to the central bus office and meet the Facilities Manager on the very same day.
  2. After a detailed orientation from the Facilities Manager the new driver should sign a sheet acknowledging thorough understanding of all the rules, duties and responsibilities of his role and of the students, staff and bus incharge teacher traveling in the bus.
  1. The primary responsibility of the bus driver is to drive safe at all times. Use of mobile phones is to be strictly avoided while driving. The bus door should be closed at all times when the bus is moving.
  2. While coming to the campus in the morning the bus drivers are expected to stop the bus if the bus incharge requests the same owing to an emergency or if a student in uniform on the road is requesting for the bus to stop. Upon arrival at the campus the bus door should not be opened until the checking team is ready.
  3. When departing from the campus the bus driver is not expected to stop the bus anywhere other than the authorised stops unless specifically requested by the bus incharge or college bus office.
  4. Bus drivers are required to deal with all students and staff politely. Abusive language or aggression cannot be tolerated. Such actions may attract consequences.
  5. The college bus should be seen extended premises of the college and bus drivers shall not use any form or tobacco or other intoxicants in the college bus or in the campus.
  6. Bus drivers are not permitted to wash college buses in the college premises.
  7. While present in the college premises or the colleges bus, bus drivers should always be wearing their uniforms.
  8. Bus drivers should not refuel during the trips when the bus has passengers in it.
  9. Bus drivers should report any suspicious activity to the college office if noticed.
  10. When the bus is parked, the drivers should ensure that the college bus door and all windows are shut at all times.
